This is not the latest release in the series: Census of population
, to request that the gender identity estimates from Census 2021 are no longer accredited official statistics and are classified as official statistics in development. The change in designation was confirmed by OSR on 12 September 2024. To reflect this change in designation, the accredited official statistics logo has been removed from this release.

The ONS have completed further quality work to provide more detailed information on the uncertainty associated with the Census 2021 gender identity estimates and guidance on their appropriate use. Please see their published on 26 March. We are reviewing this statistical bulletin using the ONS guidance and may add further information on appropriate uses of the data.
